Alice Vivian Savage

Alice Vivian Savage of 208 East Fourth Street, Weldon, NC, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late George Kittrell Savage and Louise Hayward Savage.

Miss Savage graduated from Roseboro High School, attended Greensboro College, and earned a B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina. She also graduated from the School of Medical Record Science. She retired as Supervisor of Inpatient Medical Records at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA.

She was a member of the Weldon United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Women, and a trustee of the church. Miss Savage was a former member of the Thursday Afternoon Club. She was a member of the Halifax County Library Board and was secretary and acting chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Weldon Memorial Library.

Miss Savage is survived by several cousins, her dear friends and neighbors, Tekla and Emmett Smith, and her beloved cats.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, where visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2008. The celebration of her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sue Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.
